The Smart Living Expo & Health Fair

On Thursday, May 15, SmartSenior, St. Joseph’s/Candler’s program for people ages 55 and up, will host The Smart Living Expo & Health Fair – free and open to the public.

It will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Armstrong Center, 11935 Abercorn on Savannah’s southside. Free bus transportation will be provided by Kelly Tours. Starting at 9:30 a.m., the bus will make pick-ups and returns every hour from the SmartSenior office at #8 Medical Arts. To reserve your seat, call SmartSenior at 352-4405.

Sponsored in part by The Savannah Morning News, WTOC-TV, and Clear Channel Radio (98.7 The River), the expo will cover information on health and support services, insurance, travel, lifestyle/housing, volunteer opportunities, meet-and-greets with local medical professionals, estate planning and long-term care. There will also be door prizes, a scooter obstacle course, line dancing and exercise demonstrations.

Appointments are required for free osteoporosis and glaucoma screenings and are available by calling St. Joseph’s/Candler CareCall at (912)819-3360. Free Blood Pressure Check and Chiropractic/Spine Evaluations will be available on a walk-in basis.

The Stroke, Aneurysm and Vascular Evaluation Screening (S.A.V.E.) will also be available. Cost is $119 (valued at more than $1,000). S.A.V.E. screenings evaluate abdominal aortic aneurysms, peripheral artery and carotid artery disease. Some prep work is necessary prior to being screened so all registration and payment is required in advance.

For more information or to register for health screenings during the expo, call St. Joseph’s/Candler CareCall (912) 819-3360.
