ARTISTS BRING ART AND FOOD TO THE TABLE

SAVANNAH, July 20, 2008: Desotorow Gallery will host “The Potluck Concept Art Show,” a Starland Arts District First Friday event. The opening reception will be held Friday, August 1, 7pm-10pm at Desotorow Gallery. The exhibit, which will feature work from over 20 Savannah-based artists, is organized as a potluck event, as artists bring their best work and food to share with each other and the community.

Artists and community members are invited to the opening reception to experience a conglomeration of visual and culinary arts, as well as participate in the kick off event for rejuvenating First Friday’s in Starland. Desotorow hopes this event and future First Friday events will encourage Savannah residents to visit the Starland Arts District to continue the revitalization of this emerging neighborhood.

On Friday, August 1, the “Twilight Series” at Waldenbooks begins at 9:30 p.m. for a costume-and-trivia-filled party celebrating the release of Breaking Dawn, a new novel from Stephenie Meyer.

"Stuff the Bus" at Savannah Mall

July 21 through August 24th is the traditional pop up event to "Stuff the Bus." Shoppers are invited to literally pack a school bus with needed school supplies and clothing. Ms. Crystal shares, “Our goal is to stuff the bus full of school supplies to help children in our area get the necessary supplies for the beginning of the school year! Too fun!” Customers can bring the supplies to Customer Service.

Brendan Polk Trio Live at Cha-Bella

Bella Grill and Patio Bar is proud to announce the addition of “The Brendan Polk Trio” on Friday and Saturday nights 7:30 to 10:30 in the main dining room. Brendan Polk, a local pianist, has been named an 'Outstanding Jazz Performer' by the nationally renowned jazz magazine Downbeat. He started playing piano at the age of 4 and began to be fascinated by jazz music when he listened to the music of Erroll Garner at age11. Since then he has played professionally around Savannah and has won many prestigious awards such as the national Margret Guthman Jazz Competition and the national PTSA Composers Contest. He currently performs with bands around Savannah such as The Equinox Jazz Ensemble, the Sky elite Jazz Band, David Lugo's Latin Jazz Motion, and his own group, the Brendan Polk Trio. The cutting edge trio currently consists of the renowned musicians Delbert Felix on bass and Asa Holgate on drums.

Blackwater Paddle

Superhorse CD Release Party

Savannah-based “pre-punk” garage-rock band Superhorse will celebrate the release of its second CD with a headlining set. Savannah Film Society: Young Frankenstein
